Lisa Auguste and Vincent Olivier Noiseux from So You Think You Can Dance will be conducting workshops on Sunday and performing at the Saturday Night Gala show at the Capitol Theatre.

The event will feature individual workshops on everything from jazz, modern dance, hip hop and tango where you can learn new dance skills from dancers such as Lisa Auguste and Vincent-Olivier Noiseux, who are known for their success at So You Think You Can Dance. There will also be two shows at the Capitol, one featuring the group PPS and a GALA show featuring all of the performers from the festival.

On Sunday, June 28 there will be workshops for all levels at the Aberdeen Cultural Center.

Nadia LaCroix, administrative director of DansEncorps and organizer of the event explains: "With all of the artists on Sunday afternoon we have workshops. You can go dance with them from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All of the artists who will take part in the festival will be here at the Aberdeen Center. Everyone can come dance with them during dance workshops. You don't need to have any experience in dance to come. People think, 'Oh I'm not a good enough dancer, I can't go.' It's really open to everyone.

"We have workshops for everyone, with no experience, some experience or pro. There really is something for all tastes. So people can cane dance with Lisa from So You Think You Can Dance for all levels. Carlos Riviera a contemporary native dancer that is very, very interesting also for all levels. We also have tango for those who want to try it out, for everyone. You don't need to come as couples. You can come alone and be paired with someone." Cost is $20 per workshop.

Julie Goguen, dance instructor at the DansEncorps, helped organize the festival. "It's a festival," she says. "We simply want to celebrate what dance is. Come dance with us. Everyone can dance, not just professionals. Everyone has a little desire to dance inside of them. There is social group dance and individual dance. The goal is to show people what is this world of dance. What is so amazing about it and why we love it so much."

Friday at 8 p.m. will be a contemporary show by PPS Dance at the Capitol Theatre. Multidisciplinary artist, Pierre-Paul Savoie uses dance, song, theatre and visual arts to create highly integrated body image in unique scenic atmospheres. "It IS a contemporary modern show," Lacroix explains. "He uses dance, singing. It's really something that is different. It is something that is inspiring. Pierre-Paul is someone that has beautiful vision of things, of dance. It's very, very interesting. I met him in person and he was a very interesting person. It is unique. "

In 1996, Pierre-Paul Savoie received the prestigious Jacqueline-Lemieux Prize from the Canada Council for the arts. Since its creation in 1989, PPS Dance has given over 500 performances in more than a dozen countries. Cost for the show is $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students.

On Saturday night is the GALA show at 8 p.m. at the Capitol "This will feature different artists who do their own little show. We call it GALA because it's all different artists who are not connected to each other. We have dancers such as Lisa Auguste and Vincent-Olivier Noiseux from So You Think You Can Dance. We have a b-boy. We have tango. We have a little bit of everything."

This unique event will lead the audience from contemporary dance, with Lisa and DansEncorps, through bboying with Luca "LazyLegz" Patuelli and Concrete Roots, to Air de Tango's agile steps. Cost for the show is $25 for adults and $20 for seniors and students.

On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Moncton Market is a showcase featuring many dancers such as DansEncorps. Organizers say it promises to be a super beautiful show for people to see. It's not just a show with one sort of dance. You can see all sorts in one show. From 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. there will be a stage at Victoria Park with dancers performing.

Anyone planning to attend more than one event is invited to purchase a passport. It's a VIP pass, that gives you access to both Capitol Theatre shows as well as three dance workshops of your choice.

The only way to can have a reservation in advance for the workshop is by buying your passport. It is $75 to seniors and students, and $85 for adults. This way you get first place at the workshop. Without it it's first come first serve and it's $20 a workshop.
