Gallery Connexion Exposed - Second Exposure: Gallery Connexion Exposed is an exhibition showcasing the excellent work being produced by Connexion's artist members. Participating artists include: Carol Collicutt (painting), WhiteFeather (fibre based art), Patrick Howlett (painting), Giovana Vazatta (mixed media), Kim Vose Jones (painting), Ann Manuel (drawing), Gerald Beaulieu (sculpture).
Downtown Fredericton Culture Crawl: Take in special tours and demonstrations as well as special exhibits to celebrate the Year of Craft. Locations are within walking distance of each other. Route maps will be available at City Hall Visitor Information Centre and participating galleries. Hop into History at the York Sunbury Museum Children's Afternoon at the York Sunbury - From 2-4 p.m. children ages 6-11 are invited to join the York Sunbury museum for a fun afternoon of learning and crafts! Discover the history of the museum's favourite resident, the Coleman Frog. Take an interactive tour, take part in the word hunt, and make a Coleman Frog of your very own! Cost is a $3 supply fee or free for York Sunbury Society members.* *Children's Afternoon activities are open to children in elementary school but you are welcome to register younger siblings as well "" they will just need a parent to help out!
NB Provincial Rowing Championships: Rowers will compete in junior, senior and masters categories and an open division for teams competing from outside the province. The races will run from the Princess Margaret Bridge to the walking bridge.
Fredericton Grand Prix: There will be a Meet and Greet the drivers and the Celebrity racers on Sat July 5 at 5 p.m. after practice and prior to the celebrity race. Fredericton Exhibition Centre Parking Lot 458-8819.
Summer Theatre Festival: The Ingraham Barn is the site for daily theatre performance by the Kings Landing Theatre Troupe. The plays vary from musical comedy to melodrama and are designed to entertain the whole family. Tickets are $2 per person or $5 for a family.
Artist in Residence 2008 Summer Series: Artists will create an outdoor studio space providing the public with a wonderful opportunity to learn about their inspiration and creation, and witness professional art in the making. Duncan Hadley Triathlon: The triathlon consists of three phases in the following order: Swim / Bike / Run. There are three events an athlete can enter: the Olympic distance 1500 M swim / 40 km bike / 10 km run. The Sprint distance: 750 M swim / 20 km bike / 5 km run and a Junior Development race preparing our young triathletes for the Canada Summer Games in 2009. Beaverbrook Art Gallery - Building New Brunswick, a survey which traces the development of architecture throughout the province beginning with structures built by the First Nations before European contact up to the present day. This collection of new and loaned work presents Ned's constant search for new ways to explore the traditions that connect him and his work to a greater spirituality. Ned Bear's exhibition will be supported by a collection of new oil paintings by Stephen May. These works, in the vein much loved by Stephen's fans, present the recent developments of this artist's painterly vision in nine works on board and canvas. Gallery 78 is also very proud to honour Strathbutler award finalist James Wilson. A selection of the fine artist's photographs can be seen "" ranging from very recent work to the other exceptional images that have established James' reputation. The work breathes with life and represents an artist in the upper echelons of art making. Cinema Politica Fredericton is happy to announce their recent formation and that they will be organizing Friday Night Docs - screenings of documentaries meant to inform and engage audiences on important socio-political, cultural, environmental and economic issues. The films will take us to places such as Afghanistan, Palestine, Haiti, Guatemala and indigenous territories in this country where Canadian policies are leaving an impact worthy of deeper critical examination, analysis and discussion. The films will be screened every Friday this fall at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a discussion at approximately 8:30 p.m. The films will be screened at Conserver House, 180 St. John St., Fredericton. The films are free and so is the popcorn! Donations are encouraged and any funds raised will go towards purchasing films and local organizing efforts committed to positive social change.
