Be productive, not destructive

To the culprits who uprooted a tree and destroyed a park bench in Queen Square (Saint John) on the weekend: What's wrong with you?

Why don't you spend some of that spare time and energy on doing something productive and not destructive!

Peeved with Killam

As a first year student at UNB next year I was recently looking for an apartment.

To my joy I found the perfect one for me, close to the school, close to where I'll be working. It was a one bedroom with a den in a Killam apartment building. Since it was smaller than the other apartments in the building, and there was no view out the windows due to previous renovations, the rent was $675 a month. I made a money order out the Ministry of Finance and filled out an application.

I was told the lease would be ready to sign in a couple days, so I would be travelling back to Fredericton very soon.

Unfortunately two days later the landlord called me and said that Killam Properties wanted to charge more for the apartment. The same price as all the bigger ones with views in the building: $765 a month. So if I did want my apartment I would need to give him $90 and pay that new fee every month. I definitely dropped that apartment and found a new (and bigger one) for only $700.

Still, I am peeved. Killam Properties: you will never be getting my business! I will not live amongst you! It's very disappointing when one can't keep their word, especially when it's already been indicated and signed in a document. Definitely says a lot to me about the company and its concern for its image and customer service.

Good riddance.
