Support local farmers at the 100-mile Harvest Dinner
Published Thursday November 5th, 2009

Everything local to be highlighted during Nov. 8 dinner.

More and more people these days are trying to find ways to support our rural economy. Basically, if we don't buy fresh vegetable from our local farmers, they will no longer be able to exist.
It's that simple.
In an attempt to show how it is possible to create meals on food that was grown or raised within 100 miles of Moncton, the Conservation Council of New Brunswick' (CCNB) Southeast Chapter will be holding a 100-mile harvest dinner on November 8, 2009.
This fundraising dinner is a celebration of everything local, showcasing the fine products and producers that are all around us and how we can make local choices for feeding our families.
All the food in the meal has been purchased within 100 miles of the city of Moncton.
The event will also showcase CCNB's new web site, www.buylocalnb.ca, to help consumers find local producers and products in N.B. and serve as an easy tool for producers to advertise their products.
The menu will feature: cream of squash soup, oven roasted local free range turkey or vegan quiche, garlic whipped potatoes, root veggies, maple apple torte.
You'll even be able to take your dinner to go if you end up short on time.
The cost for dinner is $20 for adults, $15 for students/seniors and $5 for children under six years of age. The dinner will be held at the Wesley Memorial Church at 168 Cameron Street, Moncton, from 4-6 p.m. Tickets are available from the Conservation Council of New Brunswick by calling 859-8104 or e-mail at ccnbsouth@gmail.com.
The funds raised will go towards the Conservation Council's environmental work.
For more information or to buy tickets please contact Yvonne Devine at 389-9818 or David MacDonald at 859-8104.
Tickets will also be sold at the door.
