Sour cream, guacamole and rock and roll

White Cowbell Oklahoma promises exciting show in Fredericton on Oct. 27.

From the booming metropolis that is Toronto comes the one and only White Cowbell Oklahoma. Making their gallant return to Canada's east coast in celebration of 10 years of psychedelic, gun powered infused rock and roll, WCO are sure to leave a lasting impression on their audience as they destroy The Cellar Pub on the UNB campus on October 27.
"10 years is a decade I believe and it's just the beginning," said lead vocalist Clem C. Clemsen. "We've taken over many cities and it's safe to say that the invasion has only just begun. We're coming to Fredericton and are excited about that. We've never played The Cellar but we're excited because clearly, it's in a basement, and that puts us that much closer to the underworld, which makes us a lot more comfortable."
The band is undoubtedly stoked for their return to the Maritimes and plan to stomp every major city east of Quebec City as part of their 10th anniversary excursion.
"White Cowbell Oklahoma has come and conquered the east a couple of times," said Clemsen. "We've done the Halifax Pop Explosion before and have decimated complete sections of the harbour that had, until that time, remained untouched, so there is an extreme amount of anticipation surrounding this 10th anniversary tour and our return to the east coast."
For those unfamiliar with the live WCO experience, no one says it better than Clemsen himself.
"It is kind of like a neutron bomb," he said. "You should all bring helmets, but we don't want to encourage the ladies to overdress that much. We recommend wearing something that is moisture absorbent, made of thin fabric, and slow drying. It will be explosive but I can't tell you everything. It may or may not involve power tools and it may or may not involve flammable humans and it may or may not involve you getting laid but chances are it will. All I can say is that you will be emancipated from your chains and you will go home saved, refreshed, and slightly soiled. We're a six-pointed throwing star of rock and roll and there's just no real escape."
In addition to their anniversary celebrations, the band is also touring in support of its third album, Bombardero.
"It's the third in a trilogy of evil that is becoming more and more infernal with every release," said Clemsen. "We hope that you are ready for our vast array or high velocity notes."
The trilogy Clemsen refers to is made up of their last three releases, Cencerro Blanco, Casa Diablo, and Bombardero. The band has a strong connection with the sounds of southern rock and roll but the connection apparently goes much deeper than that, at least for Clemsen anyway.
"We do love Mexican and Latin American culture and all its many culinary and pharmaceutical delights," he said. "We dig the south-west musical side of things. We're really into the Tex-Mex. We like a lot of guacamole and sour cream on the side of everything and I mean everything. If there are any ladies in Fredericton who love being covered in guacamole and sour cream, please contact us privately and we can discuss this at great length."
Don't miss this rare opportunity to take part in what should be a unique show. Go see WCO with special guests Iron Giant next this coming Tuesday at The Cellar.
"Fredericton, we do have wood for you!"
