HEAVY T's Verdict:

Montana's Cookhouse is a relatively established locale that typically is well-known for its steak and ribs type offerings.

It's got that unique touch of having tables covered with paper, so aspiring artists can doodle to their heart's content. Unfortunately, aside from the hostess drawing a nice smiley face and our server writing his name on the table, there was no drawing going on at our table, as no crayons were ever delivered. I guess you have to ask for them, oh well.

It's not a big deal and perhaps it would have been a bit insulting if they brought two adults crayons without them asking, but still, I was hankering for some doodling. There's a sentence that sounds a lot less innocent than it should.

Proving the power of good advertising, I picked up the menu and immediately saw a mouth-watering photo of the Chipotle Buffalo Chicken sandwich ($10.99). Sold. Add cheese for 99 cents "" don't mind if I do. I was so drawn to this burger that I didn't really get the chance to look over the rest of the menu much, but it appeared to have a lot of variety.

The sandwich I ordered was described as a smoky chipotle-breaded chicken breast, brushed with medium wing sauce and served on a Kaiser with lettuce, tomato and mayo. Sounds like a recipe for success. It was also on the "express lunch" menu, which boasts that if the meal isn't there in 15 minutes, it's free. That's a great touch for the people on the go who don't have a long lunch break.

I wasn't sure if the rule still applied, as Husky's meal wasn't from the express menu, but I still enjoyed counting down the minutes to see if I could eat for free. You've got to hand it to Montana's though "" with basically no time to spare, both meals were brought to the table in the 15 minutes or under timeframe. Bravo.

The sandwich lived up to my growling tummy expectations and was quite tasty. It was a big, meaty chicken breast that was well accompanied by crisp lettuce and a nice big slice of tomato. The sauce was quite tasty, but might have been even better if it was a little bit spicier. The sandwich had a bit of mayo, but it also might have been a better flavour compliment if it was matched with a ranch sauce. Noted for next time.

The fries were nothing to write home about "" they weren't bad by any stretch, but I've certainly had better.

The service was as quick as advertised and friendly. I'm a sucker for a good chicken sandwich and this meal left me content. I'd also love to go back and try their ribs.

I give Montana's an 8.5 out of 10.

HUSKY E's Verdict:

For me, this meal was all about choice. I was feeling rather picky and the build your own burger option on the menu struck me just the right way. With this, you can choose your bun, your type of burger (beef, veggie or chicken breast) and your group of toppings. You also get to pick your side dish.

I went with a whole wheat bun, a beef burger and the swiss toppings which included swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms and gourmet onion rings.

Now, I assumed onion rings meant the standard old onions on the burger, but these were actual deep fried onion rings placed as a topping. I thought that was a pretty tasty idea.

Instead of getting regular fries as my side, I decided to give the sweet potato fries a try (extra charge of $1.99, for a total of $13.98). They were crinkle cut and nice and crispy. They were a nice change from the old standard, but I'd probably just go with regular fries the next time. The burger itself was generously sized with lots of toppings. In fact, it was a bit of a struggle to eat due to its size. That's just the kind of challenge this fat guy likes though.

I liked the campy feel to the place, although I was a bit cold throughout the meal because of a pesky air vent near our table. The tables in the restaurant were covered in brown paper meant to be drawn on, but for some reason they never gave us any crayons. I don't know if they thought we were too sophisticated for that but nothing works up an appetite and passes the time like doodling yourself some farm animals or a portrait of your eating companions.

I really liked being able to create my own meal combination and the results were quite delicious. Although everything about this experience was good, there was nothing that was really standout.

I give Montana's an 8 out of 10.

Not bad! almost $25 for two meals which probably were prepared in a microwave.

Yep, dining out these days is becoming a wrip off. It's not bad enough that chains like Montanas, Boston Pizza etc. hold themselves out to be unique. In reality though, they've simply copied the McDonalds formula and just tweaked the menu a little.

$10.95 for a berger? Holy cow, isn't there a saying about a person and their money being shortly parted?
