Many folks think I'm a beer and wine only guy, but I'll drink anything, as long as it's good. I'm fussy about spirits in the same way that I mainly only drink traditional (usually microbrewed) beer and balanced wines, not those high alcohol, goopy-sweet wines that go terribly with food. Unless I'm in a pinch "" any Port in a storm and all that.

The Starving Students were homesick for their parents' home cooking, so they decided to find a place that could fill that void. They say you can't go home again, but you can go to Beairsto's Family Restaurant, situated at 146 Main St., in Fredericton, and get a taste of home cooking.

Located at 956 Mountain Rd., Ponderosa advertises that they have family prices, senior discounts through their Golden Advantage club and encourage tours by providing complimentary meals to their tour guides.

The Fat Guys get 'Pump'ed
Located at 5 Orange Lane, the Pump House Brewery is both an institution and a rite of passage for lovers of micro brews. With award winning Blueberry, Cadian, Scotch and Fire Chief's Ale available on tap and in six packs long after the local liquor stores have closed, the Pump House is known to many a local for keeping the party going.
Starving Students happy with Jubilee
In the mood for a quick meal to tame the hunger pangs, the Starving Students hit Jubilee Super Buffet for an oriental treat. Jubilee is situated at 837 Prospect St. in Fredericton.
Bogart would be proud
Located downtown at 589 Main St., Bogart's is considered by many to be one of Moncton's best restaurants. Dinner reservations are always a good idea, though not necessarily required. Open Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. to contact the restaurant directly, please call 855-5335.
The Two Fat Guys have no 'bones' to pick
T-Bone's restaurant, located in the lobby level of Moncton's Crowne Plaza at 1005 Main St., is a full service restaurant that provides food to those at the hotel and anyone else who wanders in off the street. Specializing in t-bone steaks, the Two Fat Guys opted to try out their lunch menu.

[Hawk] As one of the region's most recognized landmarks next to the Hopewell Rocks, Magnetic Hill or potholes, the Reversing Falls is definitely a popular spot with locals and tourists alike.
Culinary misses with fish and chips in London
If you plan to come to London, here's a word of advice: don't order the fish and chips. Since moving here I have ordered chips (fries) whenever I could, since fries with mayo is one of my favorite things.
The Igloo serves up gargantuan meals
Located at 300 Elmwood Drive, The Igloo Beverage Room and Steak House also serves up grub throughout the day. Breakfasts are of course reserved for weekends. Throughout the school year, the bar gets packed thanks to its proximity to the Université de Moncton.
Bring an appetite to Blue Canoe Big Stop
The flooded streets in Fredericton closed down many restaurants, and the Starving Students were hungry. Instead of doggy paddling around, they opted to skip town and drive 10 minutes to neighbouring Lincoln. They hit the Lincoln Big Stop, also known as The Blue Canoe, situated at 415 Nevers Rd.
Service may be slow, but the food is great
The Two Fat Guys visited Cora's Breakfast and Lunch located at 730 Main St. this week, though another location can be found at 1040 Champlain St., Dieppe. This 21-year-old Montreal chain is open from Monday to Saturday, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cora's can be reached at 382-2672 (Main St.) and 382-3030 (Champlain St.) for more information.
Missing Montreal's smoked meat
[Hawk]: Having spent a few years living just a short distance from Montreal, I know my way around a smoked meat sandwich. From 1990 to 1997, I slammed as many inch-thick smoked meat sandwiches into my stomach as it could possibly handle. The sandwiches and the poutine are two of the things I miss most about the area.
Starving Students 'wing it' this week
Low on funds and high on hunger, the Starving Students decided to opt for a cheap meal this week. They hit wing nights at Cannon's Cross, situated at 15 Riverside Dr., and Fire House Lounge, situated next to Smitty's at 1318 Regent St.
Hynes serves up homecooked goodies
Hynes Restaurant is located at 495 Mountain Rd. Known to many in Moncton as a great little diner, Hynes is open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. For more information, don't hesitate to call the establishment directly at 382-3432.
