116 THE SAME

116 THE SAME

The church is not a bunch of different organizations and peoples all working for the same master; it is one master and one group of like-minded people all serving our heavenly Father together and at the same time.

The fact that many in the church go to different places and belong to different organizations does not mean that God has a bunch of different ways to serve Him or that He is diverse in His nature. It means that He has and is sending His people to all groups and all peoples to show them and teach them the one correct way to please Him.

When you accepted the sacrifice that Jesus made for you on that cruel Roman cross, [He paid the debt that you owed to your creator, His father, God so that you could have the opportunity to accept God’s righteousness for your life and live for God in a loving and serving relationship.] God adopted you into His family and is making you into a personality that will please Him, like Jesus. He has given to you the statues of His child, like Jesus, His son.

This does not only place on us the responsibility to think and act like a child of God but it also means that God will treat us like His child.

He will treat us like He treated Jesus; watching over us, sending angels to help and care for us in whatever situation and trouble we find ourselves in and loving and communicating with us at all times. When we talk, He is listening; when He talks, He expects us to listen.

He wants us to walk and act righteously, think Holy and love mercy; this is the outward signs that should tell those that don’t know God that we are Christians and love and serve our heavenly Father, God.

We are royalty in training to reign and rule with Jesus in His coming kingdom. He expects us to learn how it is supposed to be done so that we can do it to please Him.

Even though we have been given different gifts and different positions of authority, we are all the same; thinking and acting for the benefit of God and His kingdom first and the rest of the church second.

This is also a two edged sword; because we have chosen to accept Jesus as big brother and master and have chosen to love Him above all others, He and His Father love us and will be watching out for us at all times. They will see the blessings and dangers that will come into our lives before they happen and will be attentive to our requests and needs.

Think about that for a while; you are a son of God, whatever anyone does to you, they are doing it to your father in heaven. God is watching what, how and who does you good and does you bad and, even though He may not take immediate action for or against those people, He has seen and has recorded their attitude towards you in His book of records. [Yes, it’s in the bible. Revelations tells of the second book.]

What they do to you will be facing them in their final judgement, so, don’t get angry with them when they do you a hurt but, rather, feel sorry for them because they are creating their own judgement and punishment for their eternal home.

They will have a long, long, long time to regret what they did to God when they did that to you unless they repent and become your brother; which is what God, Jesus and the church hopes that they will do.

I catch myself attempting to serve our Lord thinking I can do something for He who lacks nothing.
And when I do I become aware of my human pride and selfishness, my lack of true humility. Who am I that I can do anything pleasing to the Lord? At my best I make offerings with hands dressed in soiled white gloves, stained as they are by my sin and self interest!
Try as I may, I can never separate my most honorable intention from my own self interest. Every prayer of mine is an asking, if not for anything but for His hearing. My most sublime worship is never freed from taint of my longing, my wanting, my needs. There is nothing I can do for this King!
Indeed it is He who has bestowed upon me the Grace to "see". My faith a Grace, a gift, given to me not of my making and doing. To me there belongs only my will to recieve in accord with His Will. My worship no more than a response to His call. And this call does not proceed from any lacking on His part. But truely is for my own need.

This divided Church leads us to ask,why did the Holy Spirit permit these divisions? We can see in these divisions the fruits of sin committed by christians. And these fruits cause us to have trust in the One who is capable of bringing out good even from evil.
Humanity can achieve unity, come together in the One Church, even when they present a plurality of ways of thinking and acting in their diverse cultures.
God is served in many ways! But this is not to say that these divisions should be deepened. Christians seek unity and this seeking is best served finding and proclaiming that which is held in common. More than before the time has come for all Christians to "give an explanation of the reason for our hope"(1 Pt 3:15).
We are a people in need of endless conversion as we are aware of our own weakness. The reason for our hope being that One Love that unites us. Perhaps the answer to our question, why such division?, lay here. Wouldn't such a way be more with the Wisdom of God?

Hi Wally
A word on your serving comment; God went to a lot of effort and trouble, wreching His pure heart, so that we can be what He wants us to be and so that we can do what He wants us to do. To serve Him all He asks is that we LOVE Him and, if we love Him, we will do the things that will please Him.
With and open and honest heart we can tell Him of our love for Him, express our concern for the people that He loves and are in danger of falling away and we can live an honest and caring life before those that He wants to see Him in action.
[love is a verb not a noun.]
To serve Him in love is a lifetime occupation and oh what bliss to see Him smile in pleasure at the love that we display.

Blog: Always Learning

Hi. I am Stephen Porter; a Christian who is also a normal everyday working person. I have been a Christian for over 30 years. God has gone to a great deal of trouble to let us know Him intimately and to help us understand His way of doing things, so this blog is simply my attempt to help you know and understand God in today's ordinary world. I will not argue with anyone but I will try to expand on your understanding by answering as many questions as my time will allow.
