The Fat Guy's verdict:

First thing's first, Don Cherry's has got a lot of booths lined up on the way in. They were all occupied and for good reason "" each booth had its very own TV set in the wall featuring some Olympic sporting events. I knew Don's could be relied upon for Hockey Night in Canada entertainment, but hadn't a clue that you could saddle up with a few friends, get tucked into a booth and throw your apps at your very own screen.

There being no more tables with TVs, I settled on the patio, overlooking the newly landscaped City Hall. It was quiet and relaxing.

My waiter was one of the most effusive I've had in a while. He had no nametag, and it was later revealed he was actually the bartender. He steered me through the appetizers section, recommending I go for the wings. Rumour has it they're the best in town... So, I opted to order the ribs and wings ($20.99). This meal includes 1/2 pound rack of grilled BBQ ribs and 1/2 pound of wings, with garlic bread and baked potato or french fries. I opted for the baked potato with all the fixings.

The baked potato was great and the garlic bread was sinfully delicious. It was like they marinated it in garlic butter for days before lightly toasting it and serving it. Seriously, this isn't for the feint of heart or for those with heart conditions, diners are advised not to operate heavy machinery afterwards, the combination of the loaded tater and the garlic bread is guaranteed to cause drowsiness.

My sauce choices for the ribs and wings were the same: Don's ultimate sauce, mild, medium, hot, wacko, Tex Mex, teriyaki, honey garlic, buffalo style, smoky BBQ and Thai sweet and sour.

The server warned me the ribs at Don Cherry's were smaller when compared to the offerings of other steakhouses in town, and though this was true they were pretty delectable with loads of 'medium' sauce. The medium sauce is only slightly spicy and should please most taste buds. The wings, served crisp and hot oozing with 'Don's ultimate sauce', I can say are probably still the best in town, though I'd have to have a few more to be sure.

To wash it all down, I had a humongous serving of ice tea ($2.50) Don's just didn't disappoint, great value and good food. And for serving up pretty good fare and having excellent service, I give Don's an 8/10.

Fatter Guy's verdict:

Not only do the Don Cherry's Sports Grill booths have TVs - you can also play some Playstation while you wait for your meal, or eat your meal for that matter.

I was sans Fat Guy as schedules conflicted yet again this week, and so my friends and I were seated at a table close to the door, minus booths with TVs and full of conversation.

I hardly ever order pop, but did so at Don Cherry's because the tall $2.50 drink comes with a free refill, which I took advantage of.

The menu at Don Cherry's is very full, they have a wide variety of foods, from seafood, to pastas, to sandwiches, to nachos, to full-on steak dinners - they really have every meal covered.

After some long consideration, I made a game time decision and went with the chicken fajitas ($17.99). It came with five soft tortillas (you can get more if you run out, it's not a problem) and tons of toppings. Sizzling pieces of seasoned chicken, sauteed onions and red and green peppers, with salsa and sour cream were brought to me, and I sat there a moment and took it all in before digging in. That sizzling sound is pretty cool, really.

The fajita dish really satisfied this Fat Guy's stomach. The food was sizzling hot, the veggies were fresh and it was all very filling. I somehow managed to get through most of it as well. I've only had fajitas at one other spot in Moncton and I'd have to say these were better. The seasoned chicken gave it that extra punch of flavour, making it my new favourite in town.

We're on a roll lately with positive reviews these last few weeks, and the service wasn't 10/10 worthy, but it was good.

I give Don Cherry's 9/10 for keeping this Fat Guy happy and full this week.
