Counting Crows - Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings (Universal Music Canada)

The newest release from Counting Crows is theoretically divided into two sections (the first six songs comprise Saturday Night while the remainder make up Sunday Morning) and shows a definite step forward for the multi-platinum group. Although the first two songs that begin the record seem ill-placed in terms of sequence, the Crows recover quite nicely turning in rocking highlights such as Cowboys and the more melodic Sundays. I'm partial to the second half of the record though as I've always felt that the band has turned in some of their best moments when they were at their most reflective: Washington Square and Anyone But You rank as not only two of the better tracks from the record's second half, but two of the band's strongest songs to date.
